[RELEASE]

CHIHARU NARA - "PLASTICS"

Like I promised, just a few weeks early!

My opinion:

Average story. Not the best. I think this might be her earlier works because her novel illustrations are much more refined. BUT still, it's CHIHARU NARA! *SCREAMS*

Reading:

[OGAWA Azumi & Yukishiro Marie] Innocent Blue

The story picks up as you read further on until you can't wait to find out what happened. Predictable? No and yes. It's a story that stir up love and hate, a lot of hate at certain point. But innocense is so pure that it seem to surpass anything in the way of love. Or is it just too perfect? Read it to find out.

@angelxxuan - welcome back. It's nice to hear from you again. It's midterm weeks for me, so super busy with studing and papers. But when Spring Break comes, I'll be doing a oneshot featuring one of my favorite, Chiharu Nara.

Let's see what you can read... :

[KANZAKI Takashi] Houkago Men's Harem (After School Men's Harem) - the story is ok, pretty entertaining. But as always, Kanzaki sensei fills it with A LOT of sex. It's good but it over shadows the story. (need to join their community to download).

[YAMADA Sakurako] Omoisugoshi mo Koi no Uchi (complete) - Mix of one shots. My favorite couple is Akio and Yoshinari. Thier relatiosnhip is just too cute for words. Sukima is probably my favorite story from this manga because it's just so perverted. It really makes you wonder, what are you thinking deep under that consciousness. The stories are filled with great ideas that can be developed further to fell more complete because I was left wanting more everything it comes to an end. But still, it's a good read.

[OGURA Muku] Furueru Yoru no Himitsugoto - A good read. Very pretty art work and story.

[TENZEN Momoko] Aozora no Sunda Iro wa - typical story, but well developed until it gets to what you wanted to see happen, then it just gets a bit too corney for me. Overall, good story.

[Homerun Ken] Soul Kiss - very interesting story dealing with angels. The story is too well planned out (too perfect in my opinion). But I guess it really shows the meaning of soul mates.

[YAMAKAMI Riyu] Tooi Nemuri - ch 1(so far) - The story is ok. Not really my favorite. But it tackles the realm between fantasy and reality. Do you see him as himself or as an image of your former crush.

Review

[YAMADA Sakurako] Omoisugoshi mo Koi no Uchi (complete)

A manga full of various genre of BL.It starts off with a few sweet stories, then after chapter 4, it gets hard and dirty (lols). "Sukima" is one of my favorite because it's such a perverted story about one's hidden desires (something we might all have deep down inside of us?). Then there's the sadism and masochism (not really to my taste because I don't like violence, not when it's done to such a pretty man!). Followed by a cute and a bit angst story about learning to accept. Individually, I see these story as good ideas that can be developed further and better stories. Half of the time, I was left wanting more. But overall, these are fun to read. My fav couple are Akio and Yoshinari, they're so cute together!

[TENZEN Momoko] Aozora no Sunda Iro wa

This was better than I thought. It really got on my soft side for love stories. It was different from your typical "reuniting with an old classmate/teacher" scenario even though you know how it mind end, this one kept me interested pass the half point. There's a lot of emotion play in this one. What made him fall in love with his sensei? Surprisingly, it's more than just the looks, his spirit and kindness also took a great role in bringing out the feelings one have toward someone you love. But what happens when the image of the sensei you admire disappears and you now see him as a man, a "very ordinary man"? Very likable characters. I like it up till the lovey dovey part, then it was just a bit corny. lols. Still, definitely worth a read if you have time

@metalXfever - Welcome. What BL artist do you go for? I feel the same with dramas. I find it extremely funny (in a good way). But the voice actors do an amazing job with their roles. You got to give them credit for that, very impressive.

Recommendation:

[TACHIBANA Venio & Tachibana Venio] Seven Days - Monday→Thursday (3 chapters so far. I need more!)

From the summary alone, I was hooked! The story is amazing and the art is just right. VERY VERY VERY strong characters that really draws you into the story. If that's not enough, cute bishies in archery wear makes the perfect icing on the cake. I can't wait to see what happens next. The story really keeps you on the edge (though you probably can guess what happens). The development pace is just perfect.

Bright and early one Monday morning, Shino Yuzuru asks Seryou Touji out on a lark when they run into each other at the school gate. Seryou, who's immensely popular, has the odd habit of going out with anyone who asks him out first at the beginning of the week, then promptly dumping them at the end of it.

"Anyone" apparently includes male upperclassmen like Shino, and as a boyfriend, Seryou is perfect--unfailingly thoughtful and kind. Shino, obviously, has no intention of being in a serious relationship with Seryou. It's not like it's actually love or anything like that. ...Right?

- I can't believe Maiden Rose is up to vol. 3. I really wanted to do the scanlation for it, but it's so hard to find a translator when this manga is "suppose" to be licensed. ARRR....the publisher really gets on my nerves.

- OMG, I love the way Kisaragi sensei draws the hair as well! Her coloring is just breath taking as well. I like Fuyuki-chan's strong personality, very lovable character. But story wise, Innocent Bird still leaves a big impression on me. I really like this couple (though we don't really get much about them in the story). I am a sucker for forbidden loves. It will be nice if she/he (no one knows sensei's gender) can release a new artbook.

-totally agree with you on it. Fusanosuke-san also have a manga about cat under her pen name. But OMG! Her cat boys are the only ones I like! I love chibi-Taki for death. I wish I can get a plushie of Taki. KYA!

- Kisaragi Hirotaka sensei is just simply amazing. I love her/his color work.
- Maruya Kae, it's so good to see this mangaka excell in her work. Her long hair guys makes me have crazy nosebleeds!
- Misono Erii, i just love this mangaka's illustration. The story could use some work.
- Kyuuketsuki no Shouzou (Kusumoto Hiroki) - ABSOLUTELY a fav of mine. Anything about vampires perks my interest. But the artwork is really stunning too, a lot of details. I can't wait till vol. 2!

@yen420 - welcome. I love Aarinfantasy, it's such a great place to be in with yaoi all around you. I am gonna start reading Harudaki when it completes. It will be like a marathon of Harudaki. ^^. I heard Ai no Kusabi is like a classic yaoi. Got to watch that some day. I am glad you joined. I hope you'll have fun here.

REVIEW

[INARIYA Fusanosuke] Netsuno Ori (Prison of Heat) - Not her best work if you compare it to Giglio. But it is full of elements of what makes Inariya sensei the queen of "Historical ANGST!" It takes time during WWII between a Nazi solider and his Jewish prisoner. I know it sounds typical, but sensei has a beautiful and artistic way of tying the story together at the end. For this story, I loved the analogy of the butterfly been compared to the character. It is worth a million words. The problem I have with this story was the violence because the guy is just so innocent that I feel really heart broken seeing him get beat. Also, I would have liked to see more depth in their earlier relationship because I didn't get much chemistry/electricity from these two other than teacher and student relationship.

Other than that, her stories always make me want more after reading it.
So what do you guys think?

If you haven't read any of her work, I highly recommend Giglio, Zion no Koeda and what else you can find. (As a matter of fact, I am re-reading Giglio now, seeing her work always brings me back to Giglio because it's that good!)

RECOMMENDATION

[KUNIEDA Saika] Like as the Time Will Come When it Will Rain - WOW! It has been a VERY LONG time since I read something so good as this. Kunieda sensei is an amazon story teller that takes you in a crazy emotional ride and leaves you wanting more of her bitter sweet love stories fulled with lies and secrets. The twists are dark and full of angst, yet you can't help feeling torn between your emotions like the characters themselves. So is it a happy ending? I would let you decide. I love story 5 and 1 the most.

Highlights and Misses from Valentine's Day Releases

[ASOU Mitsuaki] Sweet Bitter Candy - What a great title for a great story. I loved the characters because they're so real. It's not everyday when you hear a uke want to "get even or get back" at a seme after he just got rejected. On the other hand, the seme is just so unpredictable and passionate that you sometimes miss took his passion for being a jerk. "Keeping myself from doing what I wanted wasn't a good thing after all, it was a waste of time." Finally, someone said it! The only problem I have is the H scene, it looked painful and ...fast (though 1st times are usually like that.) But it was really cute afterwards.

[KAMURO Akira & Takao Hiroi] Ikenai Otoko ch1a - this release trumped over everything else. It is such a funny and sexy original story about what happens when you "cum too fast" and your bf wants you to learn some moves from a gay porn video. The story gets right down to the good stuff and with every page, you are left shocked, all hyped out, and just simply satisfied. I love Josh, the cameraman. lols.

[Nakamura Asumiko] Classmate ch.1 - Very different, yet beautiful artwork. The story is so pure like the expressions the characters sometimes make. It's very light hearted so far (a bit slow). I love the little 3 or4 panel comic in the beginning and end of the chapter, too cute for words.

[Takamiya Azuma] Yuuwaku - love Takamiya sensei, but one problem, the story is WAY to short. It's such a tease!

[TAKENAKA Sei] Kisu Series - typical story line. Popular guy in school, both woman and man go crazy over him. Basically everyone want to get into his pants. But surprise surprise, he is a virgin and advocates real love. The art work is so so, I have seen better. Something to pass time? Oh, the whole idea of an sex-ed club where boys just watch porn all day and try to get girls is just creepy!

[TSURUGI Kai] My Life With You Wow, it is like watching a 2 hour movie in 110 pages. A very well rounded story. I am sure a lot of people will like this one. As for me, I wasn't pulled in by the story, it seemed too perfect and dramatic at times.

@mayujun - do you have any preference? such as genre within yaoi (ie angst, school boys, military uniform, hardcore, soft, fantasy, ect)

You can always check the page 3 pages of the guestbook. I did 2 or 3 suggestions.
I would be updating with recommendation, reviews, wha tyou should look out for in manga when I come across good ones.

@Haya - If you're talking about art, then it's definitely Fusanosuke Inariya for me. Her boys makes me sigh with happiness. (Her chibis are the cutest!)

[YONEDA Kou] Doushitemo Furetakunai

Freshly released by DangerousPleasure. So far, the cut off of ch.1 let me wanting more. I really like how the characters developed as the story progresses. The 1st two pages were such a tease. Then the story moves in a more slower pace than I wanted. But, it was very interesting to see Togawa's outgoing and straightforward personality slowly to take effect on Shima's shy, unsocial personality.

@Haya - if you ever get to Livejournal, be sure to join yshare, a great yaoi community full of licensed stuff. free_mange is the place to find anything to do with manga. A very friendly place. If you make a request, most of the time, you'll get an answer in less than 24 hours. But do the rules before posting anything on these forums. But they're pretty simple.

Hi, I am Lady-Lotus, I just joined. I thought I'll stop by and say hello to everyone here.

My current obsession (other than yaoi) is Nakamura Asumiko sensei's work. Her art is so weird, but so beautiful and stunning. I recently scanlated a very short oneshot of hers and I hope you guys will like the story as much as I did.

@angelxxuan - omg! I was sewing and drawing as well when i had dial up. It actually left me a lot of time to do a lot of other stuff other than just staring at the computer screen.

@Haya - I am glad I can help. Baka-Update Is a great way to keep track of releases and what you're reading. You should really sign up for an account. You can add series and titles to your wish list/readinglist/complete list. When a new release comes out, there will be an icon beside the title to notify you that you're reading this, etc.

I hope you joined Aarinfantasy's forum because that place is like a goldmine.

It's always handy to have an Live Journal account because that's where you can find A LOT Of licensed work.
